The film was an interweaving of stories written by Carver; there is a lot of vulgarity; the chronological aspects are different too (the stories were set in the 60's and 70's, but the film is set when it was made, in the early 90's), as are some plot elements, including one very important one at the end (the story is very different. There is a surprising amount of nudity it. Its incredibly long (3+ hours), worthy of two sittings to view it: one doesn't miss any of the plot by doing so. Some ass stole the booklet (what can one do with a booklet without the film?), but thankfully the second disc with extras on it was still included in the copy I borrowed - it has a decent doc about Carver and an audio interview with him (and other things I could not be bothered to watch).
