Le Vie En Rose Bookshop owner Sarah Smith has been offered the opportunity to exchange bookshops with her new Parisian friend for 6 months! And saying yes is a no-brainer - after all, what kind of a romantic would turn down a trip to Paris...for Christmas? Even if it does mean leaving the irresistible Ridge Warner behind, Sarah's sure she's in for the holiday of a lifetime - complete with all the books she can read! Imagining days wandering around Shakespeare & Co, munching on croissants, sipping café au laits and watching the snow fall on the Champs-Élysées Sarah boards the plane. But will her dream of a Parisian Happily-Ever-After come true? Or will Sarah realise that the dream of a Christmas fairytale in the city of love isn't quite as rosy in reality...

The stowy just was okay, but not wowth sitting thwough the weading of a book by someone with such a tewwible wisp and accent. If a pewson cannot pwonounce Ls and Rs, why have them wead a book with chawactahs named Widge (Ridge) and Wiwy (Lilly)? Oh yes, the weader could pwonounce rs, but onwy at the end of the wowd sofa...which came out sofer.

On one hand I thought don't be mean about it, but really, it's not fair to the reader. Would we listen to a singer that couldn't carry a tune? Would we go to an accountant who doesn't add well? Then why let this person narrate a book? It is an absolute distraction.

I tolerated this because I started it in a place where I could not switch and became invested in the story, thinking this must be going somewhere. Like I said, it was okay and just okay. Not worth sitting through.

I really enjoyed this book because of the views of Paris and the quirky people she worked with in the Parisian bookshop she takes over for 6 months. It's simply a fun book.

A bookshop exchange to the romantic city of Paris pushes Sarah Smith out of her settled and secure comfortable life in small town Ashford, to stretch her in ways she could never have anticipated, while dealing with challenging people, complex relationships and navigating the intricacies of the City of Lights.

“My to-be-read pile sadly would most likely outlive me - though I tried valiantly to catch up with it, I'd never get there. The allure of new books, new writers, characters who beckoned to me would never wane.”
Rebecca Raisin
