And Then Comes Summer is a children’s book, written by Tom Brenner, that ventures through the joys of summer. In the beginning, when the days become longer and the flowers and grass glisten with dew, go outside and enjoy the fresh air. When school is officially over, forget the books, and grab some lemonade. When the 4th of July rolls around, ride your bike to the amazing parade. See the bands, the floats, and the scouts, and the people in stilts, then finish it all off with beautiful fireworks. When the heat strikes, strike back by enjoying a day at the beach. When the day comes to an end, plan your next adventures. I enjoy this book because of the way it portrays summer in such an amazing way. But, if it included some more positive and negative aspects, I think it would be a little more enjoyable, other than that, I liked it, especially the illustrations.

"And when dinner is over and stories have been told,
and your fingers are sticky with marshmallow and chocolate,
and the fire burns down to glimmering coals...

THEN snuggle into your sleeping bag and plan tomorrow's adventures."

A charming ode to a summertime filled with car trips, parades, ice cream trucks, lemonade stands, bicycle rides, swimming, and more!
