Bruno Salvador, a 29 year old translator of Congolese origin, is sent on a British Intelligence mission to assist at a meeting of Western financiers and East Congolese warlords, the results of which could help stabilize the Congo. By doing so, Salvador's professionalism, ethics, and world-view are brought into question, particularly in relation to exposed Western hypocrisy.

This is an engrossing audiobook, made better by the top-notch reading: every character has their own voice, even the women, and the accents, Welsh, Jamaican, English (though rather light) and others are all given well. The story itself seems to end well, but then not so well. The pressure and the suspense builds so well I had to just keep listening at a greater rate (measured in hours per day) than I otherwise would. Those who enjoy indicting 'The West' will certainly enjoy its morals.
