O! beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-ey'd monster which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.

Add a CommentOthello, The Moor of Venice, is the Shakespeare play about Othello, his wife Desdemona, and the evil Iago. Iago, due to jealousy of Othello giving a promotion to Cassio instead of him, creates a plan to ruin Othello. Iago and Roderigo (a man who fell in love with Desdemona) create many scenarios which make Othello suspicious of his wife and Cassio.
This play was interesting. I liked reading about the themes of jealousy and the misconceptions that Iago causes.
This book took my breath away...
Othello features Shakespeare's finest villain Iago. I'd be interested in a student's interpretation of his mental state, insecurities, narcissistic and entitled tendencies, etc. Does Othello truly love Desdemona? If so, how does his love for her change on a dime on nothing more than a second-rate, B-class soldier's say-so?!
It felt like a 17th century (?) soap opera, full of deception, lies, misunderstandings and death. I felt like it was better than Romeo and Juliet, though it still took some motivation to read
