I love this book. It was such a good read. I read the book in class. He is one of my favourite authors. I was suggested for grade 5 and up because of its strong language, but still it was a great read for me. This book had a great topic.
Undergrounders is a very touching novel by Canadian author David Skuy about a young boy named Jonathan who finds himself homeless after his mother passes away, his stepfather leaves, and his landlord kicks him out. Forced to live in an underground mall with a bunch of other homeless kids, Jonathan soon finds his refuge - hockey. Jonathan joins a team but struggles to hide the fact that he is homeless. This book is really amazing and a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down. 4/5 stars.

This book is juicy and every sentence draws you in. This book is about a young boy named Jonathon. He used to have a home until is mother died of cancer. His father left him when he was a baby. Jonathon is homeless and he lives in a run down mall called the Underground. Jonathon loves playing hockey and becomes noticed by other kids. He gets invited onto a hockey team and gets adopted. It is a great book.
I remember reading this book for Silver Birch 2 years ago, and voted for it. I read it now, and I still think it's an incredible book. The drama and the emotion in the book is outstanding, and during the end, it gets more and more exciting. This is a book that I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and I will remember this book for years to come.
P.S. I'm pretty sure I'm Allen10010111! :P
A sad exploration of what life might be like for a homeless youth. It was nice that he had something he loved, that enabled him to be valued as a person and then reintegrated into normal life.
This book was just amazing! 5 stars! (Again.) I love how it's written. I wonder what I would do if I was like Johnathon... (I'm a reggie!!)
This books was amazing! 5 stars! But it kinda made me feel sad beacuse Johnathon became a streeter and his mom died. That makes it hard for jonny. It was great that rasheed let Jonny live with him! Anyways if you did not read this book READ IT! BUY IT! GET IT! FAST! TIMES RUNNING OUT! TIC TOC TIC TOC
I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to meeting the author at Silver Birch 2012 at the Simcoe County Board of Education Office.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>not the best book>>>>>>>>>>>but was still ok!
Under Grounders is a fantastic book. Our librarian read some of it too us and like I said before, its a fantastic novel. But some of it was kind of sad but thats cause I was shaking. I have read some of your other books! Please Keep Writing.
It's so eye opening! I wish that none of this book was true because it makes me sad to think about the peopel who live on the streets and have no family around or don't like them.
AMAZING!!!! So eye-opening, and Jonathan just draws you in with his story of survival! It truly shows the darker side of the streets, but it also shows that things can get better.
This book was very good if you love to read about other peoples lives. I recommend it to everyone
My connection is that when Rigger said that his shoes were killing him it reminded me when my shoes were very tight and it hurt so much.
This is my favourite book! I can't stop reading it! It is kinda sad, but the ending was "HAPPY" Read it! (you have to)
